The team at Holly Tree Lodge has been busy supporting good causes, helping to improve the local area and celebrating some well-deserved national recognition.

The care home in Shafton recently joined Barnsley Hospital’s “Working Together for Brighter Days” charity programme, which aims to make time spent in hospital a little brighter for childView postren receiving care on the paediatric ward.

The collected toys, arts and crafts materials and other activities for the children to enjoy during their stay. Staff, residents and supporters all contributed to the collection, helping to provide plenty of items that can offer a welcome distraction and encourage creativity.

Closer to home, the team also joined forces with the SCEG group to take part in a community litter pick. The initiative provided an opportunity to spend time outdoors while helping to keep the surrounding area clean and welcoming for everyone who lives there.

Another recent highlight was a visit from the Deputy Lieutenant, who joined the home to celebrate its successful fundraising for a defibrillator. The potentially life-saving equipment will be available to support Holly Tree Lodge and the wider local community.

Alongside its community work, Holly Tree Lodge has also been shortlisted in the Employer of the Year category at the English Veterans Awards.

The awards recognise the achievements of veterans following their transition from military to civilian life, as well as the organisations that support and champion the Armed Forces community.

Being shortlisted for Employer of the Year recognises Holly Tree Lodge’s commitment to providing a supportive workplace and valuing the skills and experience former Armed Forces personnel bring to the team.

From supporting children in hospital to caring for the local environment and helping to provide vital emergency equipment, these latest activities reflect the strong sense of community here at Holly Tree Lodge.
